Presenting the very bikeable Twin Cities

I recently returned from a trip to visit my family in Minneapolis-St.Paul last week. I had an absolutely brilliant time hanging out with my new niece, my family, and reuniting with the Twin Cities in the summer. It was hot as heck, but we had a great time, especially at the State Fair. Deep fried Twinkies anyone?

My brother was keen to take my dad and I around the city on bikes.  I knew the Cities were great for cycling, but I had no idea how incredible the infrastructure actually was.  Bike racks on buses, easy bike parking, and a real sense of bike culture.

I needed to experience it for myself!! I had no problem borrowing a bike as my dad and brother had quite  a few to chose from.  From St. Paul, we crossed through beautiful parks and over bridges made for bikes.

We rode down the Minneapolis Greenway, which was recently named the country’s top bike path. This was a bike highway, folks. When the Greenway crossed over roads, the majority of cars stopped even when they didn’t have to.  I was speechless.

There is even a great bike shop and cafe only accessible by the trail.

I had a great time exploring the city and seeing it in a way I had never seen it before.

Even on the streets, there was loads of room to chat with one another.

On my last night, my brother had a treat in store. With his special bike speaker and playlist, we hit the town for beers.

From the Eagles to Bob Seeger to Jay Z – he captured it all.  There is nothing like empty streets as the sun sets, good music, good company – it’s the perfect Minnesota summer moment.
