I’ve been in sunny Canada with ten students this past week. Not only did I come back with a tan, but also with a great deal of inspiration at how Vancouver and Kelowna in British Columbia have embraced cycling.
I only had one day in Vancouver, but after a visit to Granville Island and a quick walk around Stanley Park – it’s easy to see how this place has its bikeable act together.
Dedicated bike lanes run all over the city.
Stanley Park is full of cyclists, many are tourists who benefit from the many bike rental shops.
Even the Aquabus to Granville Island is cycle friendly.
Bags out of old bike innertubes? Yes, please.
I wished I had known you were in Vancouver. I would have shown you how bike-friendly the city is and the improvements to infrastructure we continue to make. Glad you enjoyed your short stay.
Ah, too bad! I didn’t even think about putting out a call out until it was too late. It’s an amazing place!
